March Madness Exercise
Saturday 3-19-22 0800 – 1200

Sussex EOC will be operational as the NCS for the exercise that will include Home Stations, Mobile Stations, and Portable Stations.

PORTABLE STATIONS: Three Go Kits from the EOC with portable antennas and battery power will be deployed to identified positions (operator’s choice) in the field (volunteers needed). Other operators wishing to try their personal portable VHF/UHF portable equipment are welcome also.

MOBILE STATIONS: Will be directed to areas is southern Kent County, western and southern Sussex County and the coastal area of Sussex. The primary objective of the mobile stations is to verify coverage of the ne 443.200 repeater.

HOME STATIONS: Stations with or without emergency power at the operator’s QTH will establish contact with the Sussex EOC via: 1. simplex, 2. the 443.200 repeater, or 3. other means, including HF. Home stations will also, following directed net procedures attempt to establish simplex communication
with mobiles and portables in their area.

SUSSEX EOC: WS3EOC: Will be operational with at least two operators and a supervisor.

SCENARIO: In recognition of the 60th anniversary of the “62 Storm”, a major storm approaching the coast will provide the basis for station interaction and exercise traffic.

OBJECTIVES:
1. Develop and evaluate Mobilization and Demobilization Check Lists, generic and individual.
2. Develop and evaluate a process and checklist for EOC Go Kits, check out and check in.
3. EOC Go Kit and portable operation familiarization, operational checklist verification.
4. Verify tactical coverage of the new 443.200 repeater, mobile and HT, as convenient.
5. Practice net operation. Entering and leaving the net and “channel hopping”.
6. Test individual station simplex capabilities.

EXERCISE NARRATIVE: Individual operators will sign up via email at WS3EOC@Gmail.Com indicating their preference for a type of operation, be it “mobile”, “portable” or “home”. Volunteers for the EOC station, and to activate with an EOC Go Kit will also be solicited. Net Control for the exercise will be
WS3EOC.

Individual operators and teams will receive specific directions for the exercise activities. Mobiles that sign up, unless they indicate an area preference will be assigned an area to survey. Operators wishing to use their own portable station, may indicate a preference for a location to operate from. Home stations will interoperate with the WS3EOC, portables and mobiles, in their area. There will be specific instructions for generating traffic from exercise activities, as well as some canned message traffic and exercise injects.
