In 2026, Winter Field Day (WFD) takes place on the last full weekend of January: Saturday, January 24, through Sunday, January 25, 2026. While often associated with amateur radio clubs, Winter Field Day is actually organized and promoted by the Winter Field Day Association (WFDA), not the ARRL. It serves as a winter counterpart to the ARRL's traditional June Field Day, focusing on emergency preparedness in cold-weather environments.

2026 Operational Schedule
The event runs for a total of 30 hours, but individual stations may operate for up to 24 hours during this window.

  • End: Sunday, January 25, at 1900 UTC (2:00 PM EST / 11:00 AM PST).
  • Setup: Stations may begin setting up no earlier than 1900 UTC (2:00 PM EST) on Friday, January 23, with a maximum setup time of 12 hours.
