2023 ARRL Field Day is June 24-25

Field Day is ham radio’s open house. Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio. (from the ARRL.ORG website)

  1. Doug KB3PRW, our Club Trustee, has secured Special Event Callsign N3Y for our use during Field Day.
  2. Location will be Brecknock Park as usual.
  3. We have requested and should be OK to place the club trailer on the North side of the tree line — on the opposite side of the Pavilion/Parking area from where we have operated in the past.
  4. We are requesting the presence of various State, city, and county officials and media coverage of the event.

From Paul KC3TIR:

The AARL Field Day is almost upon us and how time flies. Paul Tuley, our club president and “leader of the pack”  asked if I would be the SSB Voice captain which I am excited to take on the task. It does not make a difference what type of license you may have, this will be a chance for you to work our club radio field station in all modes we can set up.
HF? no problem. VHF/UHF? Contact the “mothership”.
CW?  Mr. Larry’s flyin fingers will be dot dittin at WARP speed!! Digital? We got you covered!!!  This is especially a wonderful opportunity to see other types of equipment available and how to operate especially if you are planning to make a future purchase. Plus!!! Antennas, lots of antennas!!! Our trailer has A/C to keep your toes nice and cool while you are operating as well as there will be someone available to help you.
The field day lasts 24 hours with set up being Saturday morning and hoping to be on air by 2PM. We will run 24 hours continuously thru to 2PM on Sunday. Please consider participating in this event, meeting other club members and supporting our club. Please send an e mail to pfllewis@comcast.net and let me know your preferred time slot and how long you will be able to “work the airwaves” I would like you to also indicate if you would just prefer to be a “logger” and log all contacts made. We will need at least 2 operators at all times, I would like you sign up for a minimum of at least 2 hours.

Our location with be @ Brecknock Park in Camden/Wyoming off of Route 13 South, close to WAWA, Dunkin Donuts, and Redners. If you have any questions, concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will get you an answer as soon as I can. This is a wonderful event for our club, a chance to “get together” , use our skills, teach others who are interested in what and why we do this hobby. The club will be serving lunch and have snacks and cold water available.

Thanks so much for your participation!!!!
